Can I pull Database and Storage data from MAPS Scan?
Windows 10 with Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit
MAP SQL Exception - [SmoothenTimeSeries]
I have a customer trying to run a MAP assessment of his environment. Inventory and performance monitoring completed successfully but the assessment fails.
I could not find any search results with this exception. Any help is much appreciated!
(NB this log is from running against a very small subset of the environment, running against the full environment generates extremely large log files)

IP Address Range Scan not working in MAP 9.3?
Hi guys,
i need help in some very frustrating scenario with MAP.
I want to scan a range of IP Addresses of a subnet. Network guys already opened WMI 135 and all other belonging ports for basic WMI-Scanning on the firewall for the target and source network. But no chance, MAP cant discover any host in that range. I've tested it already with a one IP-Address of that range - no chance. If i use the host names instead IP-Addresses MAP is working fine.
I also tested WBEMTEST on this MAP machine - it works fine if I connect to the IP Address of the target server by the same credentials, but MAP can't discover it. So it can't be any network issue...
Any ideas? Its so frustrating
Kind regards and thanks
Peter
Installed MAP 9.3 Now How to Run 'Setup and Repair'
Well, MAP 9.3 was working. Then I attached the data files to my default instance. Then detached them. Now I can't use the MAP tool at all. It says "Failure while validating the Configuration database. Run Setup and Repair.'
Where/how do you get the Repair tool?
Thanks, John

ADK and ICD : are all settings really working ?
Hello,
I've been trying to do something with ICD to evaluate the "Zero Master" strategy with Windows 10.
It works works very well to change the edition of Windows (Pro -> Enterprise). Adding an user account too.
But this is the only settings I could test. Everything else is not working :
- Uninstalling an ICD does not revert back the settings included in it.
- Setting a proxy seems to do nothing (Edge and IE verified)
- Installing an .appx, even copying it manually on the target system as recommended doesn't work
- Uninstalling an .appx works sometimes but not always
- Etc.
Does anyone has tried successfully ICD ?
I wonder also the meaning and use of some parameters : the GUID, the rank and version. Does it work like in Windows Installer ?
Are there any logs to watch out for troubleshooting installation of ICDs ?
I've read that ICD only works for now at the runtime. Is it possible to use ICD while deploying and if not, when could we use that ?

MAP Server Consolidation 95th percentile calculation HELP
Since Server consolidation considers 95th percentile value
I was just reading through on how 95th percentile is calculated and per the article http://www.netcraftsmen.com/95th-percentile-calculation/ :-
- Collect all the data samples for a period of time (commonly a day, a week, or a month).
- Sort the data set by value from highest to lowest and discard the highest 5% of the sorted samples.
- The next highest sample is the 95th percentile value for the data set.
Wouldn't that give wrong data at times, taking example of a machine's 95th percentile of %CPU utilization & Memory Utilization.
Consider an example where I ran the Server Consolidation report in MAP toolkit for 60minutes with sample interval of 5minutes.
- So I'll have 12 samples (CPU %) like - 2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,40,60,51
- Sorting them - 2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,40,51,60
- Discarding 5% of sorted samples i.e. discarding 1 top sample - 60(Discarded)
- So next highest sample which is 95thpercentile value = 51
Now in this case for all the time server utilization was 2% and only for3 intervals(40,60,51) it peaked and may have dropped down right after it reported the last value of 60%.
Which basically would mean for majority of the time server utilization was just 2% but since for that 95th interval it peaked high, it'll consider 51% as the value for consolidation.
Wouldn't that be wrong to consider 51% utilization for calculations for this machine where I should be actually considering just 2% for this machine.
TIA
Request to Integrate the Microsoft Azure Cost Estimator Tool
Hi,
I regularly run both MAPT and the Azure Cost Estimator Tool (IaaS) in order to get both an assessment and pricing for migration to Azure.
In order to get accurate performance metrics both tools need to perform separate but near identical assessments over time.
Can I please request that consideration is given to merging or integrating these two tools so that only one scan is required.
The ability to show estimated costs in MAPT as they appear in the Azure Cost Estimator would be highly beneficial.
Thanks

I'm not able to create the All computer credential because the "create" button is not present in the interface.
I have only installed the software and create the database. Map is running on Windows Server 2012 R2
Can anyone suggest how can I create the all computer credential or what I should check ?

MAP Toolkit for SQL Server Assessment
Hi Everyone,
Just checking if MAP Toolkit can be used to assess\profile an environment with silos of Microsoft SQL Server Databases\instances. The objective is SQL Server consolidation. Appreciate thoughts from anyone who is familiar with or has tried this before.

How to discover workgroup systems with MAP
Hi
Need help to discover "workgroup" computers where the computers are distributed across the offices and computer credentials are different. tried discovering using the IP but due access issue we couldn't succeed.
error: access denied.
is there any way to do a assessment of the computers without knowing the credentials but are connected to LAN (in work group)
Exchange 2013 Enterprise CAL vs Standard CAL Usage
After running the toolkit all of the mailboxes are showing as Enterprise. This was not expecting, none of them should have any enterprise features turned on. In trying to figure out why I came across documentation noting a bug in 2010 that would incorrectly identify a mailbox as Enterprise because of the Standard Active Sync Feature.
I was hoping to see if anyone knew if there was a way in the reporting to see what features in the mailbox were tracking as enterprise. Or if the bug that effected 2010 was still present in 2013.

Connection : Local DB (MapToolkit)
created db name as Server_Inventory, there are two instances running in my local laptop from where I am running this tool,
Where can i find Server_Inventory db
this is really cool and very usefull tool, not sure how i missed this tool
