Hi All,

I have tried to run Boot Performance(Full Boot) assessment on my local PC and it's got succeeded as well. But my problem is that one of my application( it will launch in every user logon) is forcefully closing during the assessment. Please note that this assessment having multiple restarts as well.

I have developed an application for clossing my application. So my doubt/question is how to update theBoot Performance(Full Boot) assessment for calling EXE before starting the assessment in every restart for maintain proper working of both the applications.

Thanks & Regards,

Bilaal John

Does anyone know why a full MAP scan, with all scenarios selected, returns no user data?

Perfmon keeps failing for bunch of servers.

I ran this Map tool 9.9.12.0 to evaluate the infrastructure. Bunch of servers failed in collecting the performance data (PERFMON) and those servers were successful in WMI and registry collection.

I am not sure where to start with troubleshooting. Any help will be appreciated.

I am currently checking the firewall ports.

MAP Schedule

Hi Team,

I understand that MAP doesn't have the option to schedule the scan and also it doesn't re-scan all the previously scanned devices. I would like to know if there is any changes in the previously scanned devices, Still MAP doesn't scan the device or it does scan if there is any changes.

Thanks

Can I inventory RHEL using MAP Toolkit?

Hi,

I'm hosting RHEL  7.5 on Hyper-V and need to scan it's SW inventory using MAP Toolkit, but I don't even know if it's possible.

I used various guides on the Internet, but none of them seems to be working properly. I get HW specifications only.

I'm pretty new at this, so ask me for any further info.

Thanks

Scan Failure Behavior

Had a customer of mine ask a very interesting question. They didn't want to run MAPS on their Production SQL Servers because they were unsure of how it would behave if a credential failed during the scan.

They wanted to know how many times the toolkit retried a failed scan.

I looked online and I couldn't find anything in regards to the toolkit retrying failed credentials more than one time. Does anyone know how many retires the MAP Toolkit attempts to make using a failed credential?

Guys,

Quick question before running MAP against our production environment, does this analysis cause any undue overhead on the systems been referenced.

All VMware Hosts Missing from the VMReport

Hi,

I am using MAP to do monthly SPLA calculation. When I did the inventory as before, and generate report as normal. I found all the VMware hosts are missing from theVMware Host-Guest Details   sheet. And most of them have moved to theHyper-V Host-Guest Details sheet without correct and enough information. And the report is not usable for me cause the Host Summary sheet did not provide me with the servers and versions as before.

We recently upgrade our vCenter to 6.7 and all the ESXi hosts are on 6.0.0. And another change is we removed one 2008 domain controller and add a new 2012 DC to the domain.

Anyone can give some insight please?

Total Amount of Scans Run

Hi,

Is it possible anywhere in the MAP database to be able to tell how many inventory scans have been run in the database and possibly the dates they were run?

If not this would be a very handy feature.

Thanks

WARNING: Using MAP with VMware SRM (Site Recovery Manager)

$

Hi,

If you are using MAP to inventory your environment (or a clients environment) and VMware Site Recovery Manager is in use, MAP will actually assign successful inventory data to the Virtual Guest that is powered Off. It will also state that the powered off VM is actually Powered On when it's not.

I haven't found a fix that works 100% of the time however, to reduce it the way to scan is:

1. Scan Production VMware vCenter that has the majority of the Powered On VM's

2. Once this completed then do an AD scan.

3. Once you have finished all the AD scans then do another VMware only scan on the SRM hosts that are powered Off.

You will also see this happen if you have a duplicate VM's with the same name (One powered on and One Powered off).

To the developers. Please resolve this ASAP.

We should be able to do a VMware only scan and then do an Active Directory scan and it assigns the inventory data to the Powered On device because how can it inventory a Powered Off device?

Thanks

Hi

i have a problem, update appsettings

Edit the following file in %Program Files% Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit\bin : Microsoft.AssessmentPlatform.UI.Console.exe.config  Add the following lines into the “<appSettings>” section.  Note: The values in the first and second lines can be adjusted up or down as needed to maximize the performance while maintaining system stability, but these values must be greater than 3.
<add key="Microsoft.AssessmentPlatform.InventoryEngine.InventoryService.DefaultMaxThreadsX86" value="52" />   <add key="Microsoft.AssessmentPlatform.InventoryEngine.InventoryService.DefaultMaxThreads" value="52" />   <add key="Microsoft.AssessmentPlatform.InventoryEngine.InventoryService.DefaultMinThreads" value="3" />   <add key="Microsoft.AssessmentPlatform.InventoryEngine.InventoryService.MaxThreadsLowerBound" value="2" />

Eliminate SQL Express

What is the procedure to use an existing instance of SQL Server 2016/17 to host the MAP database in MAP version 9.9?  We don't want to install/run SQL Express, rather we want to use an existing SQL Server.
