MAP 9.1 Multiple errors

I had no install problems with 9.1. After starting the first collection it failed multiple time with "Error occurred while collecting inventory data. You will need to close and rerun the wizard."  It finally finished the collection after several days of running and having to restart collection.

After it finished collection it failed the assessment process. Tried that 3 times and it failed every time.

I have uninstalled 9.1 and gone back to 8.0. That was the best version of MAP to date and runs in a relative short time without issues. I saw in the 9.1 readme that you asked numerous bugs to leave. They did not all go.

File Share Info Missing from 9.1 Database

in earlier versions of the MAP Toolkit file share info was in dbo.file_shares and had info about the shares on each computer. I'm not seeing this table anywhere in the MAP Toolkit 9.1 Database. Can anyone confirm the 9.1 location of this? Or confirm if it was removed?

Any Correlation / Has anyone seen this behavior?

I ran a scan using the MAP toolkit with Active Directory as the inventory method on Monday to start our true up process. Then, that afternoon and today I have had a handful of users suddenly lose their activation in Office 2010 / Lync 2013.

Has anyone else seen this behavior? I am trying to isolate the issue, and I am wondering if it has to do with how we include the activation for Office in our imaging solution. In my previous organization, we added the product key, but we did not activate Office, which it seems is not the case now.

Thoughts?

Good Morning All,

I am using MAP to generate a report for the Windows 7 readiness on our network.

Within the reporting once devices have been inventoried, it states in one column 'Known Device Compatiblity Issues' and the answer is 'Yes'

However that is as much detail as the report gives me. The report is stating their are device compatibility issues, but not what the issues are.

Is there anywhere that contains the information of the compatibility issues?

RPC failure for hostnames with multiple DNS entries

I'm using MAP Toolkit 8.5 to scan by IP address range, for a narrow range of IPs used on a VPN.

The plan is to have mobile workers' devices attached to the VPN at a specific time and run an inventory.

When workstations connect to the VPN, they register their IP address provided by VPN, but simultaneously register their WiFi or mobile network IP address that they're using to connect to the Internet and on to the VPN.

This creates a problem during inventory and gives the error "Failed - RPC Server Unavailable", yet if I use wbemtest I can make a successful connection by the VPN IP address of the workstation.

If I manually remove the second DNS entry registered by the workstation, the inventory works.

So are there any tricks to make the MAP inventory "prefer" one particular subnet of IP addresses when it does a DNS Lookup for inventory, or any way to make this work without changing the VPN infrastructure? I don't really want to make wide-spread changes to the way ALL workstations register in DNS for the sake of a simple scan by MAP. I'd like to fix this at the MAP server end if at all possible.

MAP 9.1 how to scan for installed Office 2003 and Office 2010 ?

I would like to determine how many installations of Office 2003 and Office 2007 are on computers. MAP 9.1 only gives option to check Office 2010 and 2013 readiness. How can I accomplish this ?

I have a Server 2008 STD SP2 64-bit with SQL Server 2008 R2 already installed. I created the  MAPS instance with the correct collation. I had a Maps 8.5 but it would error out when it could not find SQL Express localdb install software. I downloaded MAPS 9.1 but it also fails to install. I have snipped what I feel may be the only relevant part of the log.

How to map installed SW to Machine name or IP adrdess.

How can one find out form the automatically generated reports which machine has particular software installed. For example I have downloaded the Windows Environment Summary Report which shows that for example I have 6 copies Visio installed but it doesn't tell me on which machine.

Would I need to create a cuctom report and how.

WMI Status: Failed - Other Reasons Troubleshooting

Hello,

I'm currently trying to collect data using MAP 9.1, and have been plagued by this "Failed - Other Reasons" error. To run from beginning to end here are the steps I've taken:

  • We've isolated a single client to test this on and use the "Manually enter computer names"
  • WBEMTEST.exe successfully connects to the machine, and a simple select * from Win_32.processor returns a result
  • To rule it out, "winmgmt /verifyrepository" confirms WMI repository is consistent
  • The error messages are either "Failed - Inventory Not Completed" or "Failed - Other Reasons"

Following the advice in http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/1644.microsoft-assessment-and-planning-toolkit-inventory-status-messages.aspx used "Run as Admin" and still had the same results.

Exporting the database and looking at it in SMS, here are the error details:

"System.BadImageFormatException: Invalid access to memory location. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800703E6)
   at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHRInternal(Int32 errorCode, IntPtr errorInfo)
   at System.Management.ManagementScope.InitializeGuts(Object o)

   at Microsoft.AssessmentPlatform.InventoryEngine.DeviceInventory.WmiClassesCollectionStep.ConnectToNamespaceAccessTest(WmiCollectionState stateRec, WindowsIdentity identity, SavedImpersonationContext sic, String wmiNamespace)"

The client machine and machine running are both Win 7 Pro 64bit. I'm running out of options to troubleshoot this, is there anything I can try to resolve why this isn't connecting?

Does MAP tool capture User Summary  (count of users, their details) for SQL Server 2008? 

At my end, its working for SQL Server 2012 but not showing User Summary for SQL Server 2008..

Does the User Summary only works for SQL Server 2008 Enterprise edition as one of the thread points out?

MAP Toolkit 9.1 - Installation Failure

I'm having problem install the MAP Toolkit v9.1 on a Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2 server

When I try to run the installer, the program fails with the message 'Setup was unable to update the program.  Please resolve the issue and re-run setup'

I have looked in the logs, and it looks like it installs the Server2012 LocalDB, tries to install the MAP toolkit, fails with error 1603, then rolls back and uninstalled ther Server2012 LocalDB.

I have repaired .NET Framework 4.5, tried to use a SQL Server 2008 instance named MAPS (as per install guide), tried various other fixes from other technet articles, not having any success.

Any Thoughts on this?

MAP 9.1 - Internet explorer Add-on inventory

Hello,

I've used MAP  to inventory internet explorer. When the report is generated, it shows information about versions but the tabs : overview, client details and add-ons details contain no data. The cells contains Data A1,Data A2, ...

Do I have miss something ?

Hi,

I can not be able to get number CAL usage on windows 2008 R2 server using MAP 9.1 but i can be able to get CAL installed on windows 2012 R2 server using this tool.

Does Any one know how to get the total number of CAL used on windows 2008 R2 ?
