I performed an inventory using v9 and a new database, and now the Assessment is getting a failure. I changed the ".default=" line to Warning in bin\Logging.cfg, but do not see it anywhere (bin folder, %TEMP%, event logs, etc.).
Where would the log be written and what is the name?

I'm trying to inventory some UNIX platforms in our environment, but the team (understandably) doesn't want to hand out the root user credentials. Is there any way in MAP to run "su" with the SSH connection?

Upgrading from MAP v8 to v9. After answering "Upgrade database?" question with Yes, receive the followingn error:
"A failure occurred while upgrading the database. Refer to the log file for more details. RunListOfQueries: A SQL exception has occurred running: "** See the log file for the specific query. **"
For starters, cannot find the log file that it refers to for further diagnosis. Any ideas where that's located?

I try to install the MAP 9.0 toolkit but every time I get the message "Setup failed to update the product. Fix the issue and run setup again". When I review the log file i find the 0x80070643 error:

I tried to repair my .NET 4.5 installation, removed .NET 4.5 and reinstalled again. Still getting the same error.

One of our guys then installed Symantec on several servers. I then ran another full scan and I still get the same data back, showing that Symantec is not installed on those servers. It is installed via MSIEXEC so it should show up. However the RegistryDateTime column in CoreInventory.Devices still shows 2014-01-02 22:10:59.840. Why wouldn't this column be refreshed and the newly installed software be listed?

I have a customer who has multiple Windows XP Embedded Thinclients. When he runs the MAP tool they show up as Windows XP devices. I have personally not seen this yet since he hasn't shared the MAP data yet but does anyone know if the MPA tool can differentiate between Windows XP desktops and Windows XP embedded Thinclients or are they all lumped together? Does the MAP tool show for example versioning that might help differentiate? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We are about to embark on a migration from OEM versions of Office 2010 Home and Business to a volume licensed installation of Office 2010 standard (i believe) and we have the task of documenting all of our current OEM licenses.
I understand the MAP can be used to provide numbers of installs and issues with upgrades etc but does it also provide the current product keys for Office installs?
Has anyone seen this error before? I got this when attempting to run a collection.

but in my case I have just the excel spreadsheet, there is no word document generated... is there something wrong?

Hi this error "KB2879017 setup error - failed to migrate dedpendent packages" during installation of Microsoft Security pacthes at Windows XP SP3 pc . I'm using IE7 (version 7.0.5730.13) . Below logs the error. Anyone can advice?
Will mount point inventory (Win32_Volume) be included in a future version? The [Win_Inventory].[LogicalDisks] table has not entries for mounted volumes, but the disks are inventoried in [Win_Inventory].[DiskDrives].
A way to reference the partition and physical disk would also be helpful.
The discovery works well, but the assessment as second step alway failed.

I am running map 6 to inventory and asses the network. We have a single domain on two sites with around 500 pc
I am getting errors like this
Device inventory completed. Elapsed time = 00:00:00.228. Collection results: Wmi = FailedDueToSocketNotConnected/0/39/2, Registry = FailedDueToSocketNotConnected/0/7/3.
I am able to conect using msinfo32 to this computer. This only happen with windows 7 and 2008r2.

I'm trying to scan across multiple domains with the MAP toolkit. I have a stand-alone computer not in any domain and I'm searching by IP address. When I try to enter the credentials I use domain\username and I get an error that I the wizard can't authenticate to that domain. I need a single database that collects data from several domains, so I either need this to work, or another option.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
