Hello,
I am in the process of wrapping up an assessment for a server consolidation project of 8 physical servers into a virtualized environment. I have already run the MAPs toolkit to collect performance data for the past 30 days, however I wanted to ask the question of how everyone is taking disk paging into consideration when designing for the amount of IOPS. This assessment came back with 3700 IOPS for the 95th percentile, however 2 of the 8 machines are showing 1k + IOPS and I have confirmed they are paging. These systems are currently running 32bit Server 2003 with 4GB RAM.
How would you design based on those numbers? Would you take the average disk IOPS for those 2 machines, and then allocate the amount of disk writes in the 95th percentile to RAM for that VM?
Thanks in advance!
